WOOD JOINERY
I have a deep passion for working with wood, and I find joinery to be a beautifully intricate technique that adds both strength and artistry to a design. I am fascinated by Asian architecture and the Ashikatame beam where interlocking pieces of chiseled wood are pieced together. I did a study to research the complex mortise and tenon joint, where long, often tapered tenons from opposing beams pass through the column, sliding over or past each other to create a strong, tight, and interlocking, nail-free, or pin-only connection.
